Been reading many postings on the best Hamburgers in North America. Only two top my list: the White Spot chain's hamburgers in Vancouver, B.C. and Yaw's in Portland, Oregon. I have heard rumours that Yaw's has gone out of existences. I hope not. Honourable mention would go to the following: Vjs in Winnipeg, Manitoba Hamburger Heave in Eugene, Oregon The Hamburger House in San Diego the Red Top Drive-In in Winnipeg and Mag's Drive-In in Kingston, Ontario

Well, a place that deserves mention is Louis' Lunch in New Haven, Ct. They claim to be the joint where the hamburger was born. They serve their burgers on toasted pieces of bread, and the burgers themselves are prepared very much like White Castle's.....but with better meat. :)

Oh, and don't ask for ketchup on your burgers -- they don't do that. :)

The best hamburgers in North America ? Well, the best burgers in Washington DC are at a VERY small carryout called "Lindy's Bon Appetite", on the campus of George Washington University, at the corner of 21st and I Sts NW (2000 Pennsylvania Ave NW). 4 or 8 ounces, broiled, multiple toppings, just incredibly delicious... Now I'm hungry.

My vote goes for "Louis' Lunch" (pronounced Loo-ees Lunch) in New Haven, CT. They claim to have served the first commercial hamburgers in the USA, and they grind 5 cuts of meat, and make delicious hamburgers. It's on Crown Street, in downtown New Haven. Might as well have dinner at "Sally's Pizza" later, while you're in town!
