We have "Kabul" in Seattle, and "The Four Horsemen" in Vancouver, BC. Very good soups, eggplant dishes and kebabs. Kind of like Indian and Mideastern (they do serve hummus) but use different spices and sauces.

Minneapolis (ok, Bloomington) has a wonderful place called Da Afghan. We were there two nights ago. I keep going back for the Kabeli Palow -- a stewed meat dish (I had the lamb, my son had the chicken version) with basmati rice atop, topped by raisins and carrots -- there's a hint of cinnamon in it. And their tabouli rocks -- it's actually a GREEN salad rather than only a bit of green amidst a bowl of bulgur. And their cilantro chutney is outstanding. They put out a cookbook several years ago but it's no longer available. I've posted the chutney recipe and the palow recipe to r.f.cooking at least once. FWIW.
