My favourite is an Indian restaurant called "Cuisine of India", at 5222 Yonge Street. Not too pricey, either ... about $20 per head, or upto $50 per head with alcohol and fancy dishes. :-) It's not downtown Toronto, though, it's in North York, but it's easy to get to ... either drive far enough north on Yonge Street, or take the subway to the North York Centre and walk a couple of blocks north on Yonge from the station.

I like spicy food, so my recommendations may not be shared. :-) But this place has great, tasty food, not necessarily chilli-hot.

Another decent place is a little Chinese restaurant on Dundas, close to the intersection with Bay Street ... the Spadina Garden.

But hey, Toronto has many, many restaurants. Half the fun is in trying new places, and there are lots of restaurants downtown. :) Avoid the chains, though, they tend to be boring. I mean places like the Olive Garden or East Side Marios. Go for the one-of-a-kind ethnic places or steak joints ... better food, better value for your money.

If you like the "noodle soup" idea, try any of the several branches of ForkChops ... this is one local chain that has reasonable prices and tasty food! :-)

Have fun!
Maya.

Register a second vote for Cuisine of India. It's really terrific. A second choice would be Young Thai.
