I couldn't possibly categorize my choices that simply. For instance, one of my all time favorite restaurants is Gay & Larry's Mexican Restaurant in Rubidoux, CA. The place is way tacky. But this is the place that, rain or shine, the family went for special occasions. G&L has some hard-core devotees, and many of my friends are among them. In fact, the first place we go when I come back to CA is G&L. The food is okay, yeah, the service is okay, the prices are pretty good. But mostly, I think it's comfort and familiarity that bring me back, and that make me nostalgic when absent. Now that I'm here on the east coast, I've 'collected' several favorite restaurants. Price is rarely a consideration, and while great service and great food are important, I can't separate them from each other, you know?
