China Shuttle, on Homestead near Foothill (near the Los Altos - Cupertino border) has eggrolls that are fairly close to what I remember getting in Connecticut.San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Where can I find a New York style Chinese eggroll (NOT a spring roll)??
I tried that place today. That was definitely not a NY style eggroll! It was your basic spring roll you find in this area, except worse than most spring rolls I've had here. At least the food wasn't too bad, wasn't great though. I'm desparate for this. If anyone out there knows of a place in the south bay that serves NY style thick-shelled eggrolls, NOT spring rolls, then please let me know. I saw a message about Yuet Lee Seafood in San Francisco has it, but that's too far for me. I will check it out next time I'm up there, but for now I need a place. I'll try 99 Ranch, but I was told that it is close, but still not a close match or that good. Are there any Chinese deli's in the San Jose area that might carry them? I'm also still baffled why restaurants here don't serve duck sauce. Duck sauce tastes so much better, esp. with eggrolls, and with plain rice also. I was told that it is more expensive, but really are restaurants here trying to save a few pennies here & there like that? It is probably more of a CA/western thing than expense, no? I'm also looking for a NY-style cold noodles dish out here with peanut/sesame sauce. -Andrew Weinstein Intel Corp.
