Talk about being lucky! San Diego is home to (IMHO) one of the
best vegetarian restaurants in the US, "Kung Food" which is on
either 4th or 5th. Despite the silly name, "Kung Food" is a
real sit-down restaurant with a menu that is both reasonable
 wrt price, yet creative.

Kung Food is at 2949 Fifth in the Hillside area of San Diego. Phone
 is 619-298-7330.

It's north of downtown, and south of Hotel Circle. It's possible to
walk there from Hotel Circle, by using the road that climbs up to the
medical center's parking garage on the south side of the Interstate.
It's hard to find on the way back, so make a mental notes of the
 streets.

Kung Food is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the world.
I've taken carnivores there who have left happy.

They run a natural food store/new age shop next door. So if you have
to wait to be seated, there is some interesting to do!
