Be sure to call ahead to make sure of the hours, prices, and get directions.
You can walk to the Hillcrest neighborhood south of the Town and Country where
Kung Food and some other of these restaurants are. I have found the Hillcrest
area one of the nicest for shopping and browsing on pass trips to San Diego.
Walk to Hotel Circle North which is between the T&C and the Freeway. Turn
left (east) until you can cross under the Freeway to Hotel Circle South. Walk
back west until you come to the road for the University of San Diego Medical
Center parking garage which goes uphill (south) to the garage. The sidewalk
goes all the up to the intersection of Bachman Pl and Arrow Drive, which is 2
blocks north of Washington Street, one of Hillcrest's main drags and a little
under a mile from the T&C. It is not possible to drive this way. (Anyway,
the Freeways are quicker, if you are in a car!) It's hard to find on the way
back, so make a mental notes of the streets.
BTW, Balboa Park where the Zoo, IMAX Theatre, and many Museums are is just
east of the Hillcrest neighborhood and about 3 MFTH.
