A few weeks back someone made a recommendation for a good Thai restaurant in Mountain View next to a Bowling alley, and since my kids swoon at the sight of Thai food, off I went to this restaurant. I don't know about others, but I can tell you I ain't going back there. I earn money the hard way and I don't want to throw it away! Anyway, I can tell you about two Thai restaurants I regard very highly: "House of Siam", and my latest discovery, "Thep Thai", almost next to each other on Market street in San Jose. Check them out and see for yourself.

When I lived in Milpitas, I used to drive there and get take out. Now I sometimes get their take out for dinner at work. Usually vegetarian pad thai (they put more vegetables -- both in quantity and kind -- than any other veg pad thai I have had and it is neither too oily, nor too sticky) and the red vegetable curry. Now, I have only eaten the vegetarian dishes and never the lunch buffet. I walked in once to Thep Thai during their lunch buffet and just from sight I could tell it was horrid, so I left. I've only had dinner at both places.

The Thep Thai buffet was seriously overcooked and not very spicy. One of my measures of a restaurant is how well they clean and cut the meat. I'm very fussy about meat prep. I will order meat dishes at House of Siam. This is important for me, as I hate handling raw meat myself and need more animal foods in my diet. Val
