I stopped by Global Village Cafe today but just for a latte. I didn't have a chance to try any of the food but the latte was very good. You should check out their web site at http://www.globalvillagecafe.com for the complete menu and other info. I was impressed with the style of the place. It seemed very comfortable and friendly though their selection of pastry to go with the latte was somewhat limited at the time I was there. The restaurant and cafe have standard cafe tables but there is also an interesting "pillow" seating area near the window that allows you to sit on pillows next to low tables. There were some interesting menu items but they all seemed kind of pricey for lunch or a snack. They also have two PC's setup for internet access at $5.00 per hour. You can also bring your own laptop and plug into their fast wireless network through ethernet. --Ron Lautmann Nap98 wrote: > Let me re-phrase my question. Typical pub kind of food - ribs, burgers, caesar salad, sides of corn bread, deep fried items. We sat downstairs to the right of the entry. My friend had the pulled pork sandwich with a very mild, sweet bbq sauce. Really fork food as it was too drippy to eat out of hand. I ordered the 'ranch' size caeser salad thinking it would be maybe twice as big as a dinner salad. It was four times the size of a dinner salad for only $8.00. It was enough to feed at least two people. Tasty with a tad too much dressing but with very nice toasted cornbread croutons. We split the deep fried onion rings. A fish and chips kind of batter around huge rings that were done to a nice sweetness. The batter did get soggy quickly though. She ordered a glass of wine and I had a Bombay martini (a celebration lunch) which was listed as a well drink (Bombay!) and was less than the wine. The service was good, but unless I have an urge to eat lots of meat or split something, I'll probably not go back for the food. The decor is superb and looks very authentic. The finishes range from bare concrete to barnwood to paving stones to cowskin rugs. The rugs were slippery and probably will disappear after someone slips on them. Antlers and a buffalo head adorn the walls downstairs. The prices were reasonable for a nice lunch, they were anxious to please, and the music not too loud so we could talk. If you like the cuisine, you'll have a good time. Bracey Nap98 wrote in message ... >Let me re-phrase my question. (with luck I'll get an answer) Has anyone been to >the Rio Grande Restaurant on Mtn. I was there on Thursday with some dance friends. We didn't have dinner, but the place is big, airy, clean, has friendly staff, and the music isn't as loud as I feared. The dance floor is lovely, but I can't take too much country music, so I won't be there very often. Val
