Really? In my opinion, there are better burgers in *Berkeley*. Mel's was okay, but it didn't blow my socks off. Fatapple's (MLK at Vine), the Smokehouse (Telegraph at Woolsey) and Raleigh's (Telegraph near Haste) are three places to check out. Great fries, too.

If you happen to be heading towards Sacramento, "Murder Burger" in Davis is first-rate and worth a detour. Take the Richards Blvd/Downtown exit, head towards downtown, turn left at the first signal (Olive Drive) and you're there. Garlic mayo! Fresh fries! Shakes in yummy flavors! Espresso drinks! Charlotte Bob says check it out.
