Bob . . . listen to Allan . . . I defied him a couple of years ago and went to Amarin for lunch despite his warning. Bleachhhh!!! The food is bad, bad, bad and service is piss poor. One place I will never ever give a second chance to.

Actually, actually, there are two Amarins a couple of doors apart. One is more of a noodle kind of place. They are the best of the Thai places on Castro. Both Thai Spoon and Thai-rrific are pretty bad. If I am going to eat Thai in Mt. View, I always choose one of the Amarins. If you don't have to stick to MV, then Thai City in PA is a bit better in my opinion.

Overall, I find the Thai places in SF better than in the South Bay. Don't know why, but try Thai House on 14th and Noe and see if you agree.

I *love* Han Gen . . . the spiciness (sp?) of the food there is right up my alley -- my favorite dish is the Han Gen Beef. I think it's the "classiest" Chinese joint on the Castro strip as far as lunch specials go -- love the salads, sweet and soup is okay, entrees are awesome and you can't beat the after-meal sherbets! Excellent deal for $6.95 including the fried rice and iced tea.

Haven't been to Tien Fu in a while but remember the food being quite tasty.

Cheers,

Nina
