well, up until about a month ago, I would have recommended Sushi Ya in Palo Alto. They had the best sushi bar, IMHO, but alas they decided to remodel and go for more of a noodle/ tempura/dinner box style. They still have sushi, and its good, but we are always concerned that they don't get the turnover they used to, so maybe it is not as fresh?

So, I would have to recommend Yakkos in Mountain View (it has been my second favorite all along, now moved up to first), Toshi Sushi (on El Camino, right down from Akasaka), Higashi West in Palo Alto if you are feeling wealthy, and last and most certainly least, Miyake, where they make you drink a gallon of sake on your b-day and where they blare music 100% louder than it needs to be....

just my $.02....

Sugata in Albany is where I go. Everything is good and the people are great. Endo-san is the man to look for. It feels like you're in Japan.
