It's quaint. Don't go there expecting the moon. The food is average, but fun. Think of it as what it is, a very old about to close family run restaurant and you won't be disappointed.

They are closing, however, so don't wait too long. The building is being earthquake proofed, and it and Mac's Cock(t)ails are both going away. Mac's is moving somewhere else, but S&G is closing for good.

Over on First there's the Flying Pig Pub. Awesome chicken nachos and good salads.

Cafe Zucco next door is good if you are one of those that prefer "panini" to sandwiches and like sprouts on everything.

Shark and Rose on San Pedro does both standard pub fare (fish and chips, burgers) as well as great fresh fish specials.

But for cheap eats, the king... er *queen* is Senora Emma's Taqueria on Santa Clara and Almaden Ave. Fabulous burritos.
