I like Paragary's. My favorite carpacio. Wood-fired oven for pizza and roast meats. Some complain it's too yup for Sac, but I've liked it since 1984. For power lunch near the Capitol, the Bull Market was a popular spot. From [email removed] Tue Apr 9 17:26:19 EDT 1996 Article: 23873 of rec.food.restaurants

Sacramento CA - Any recommendationS/
If you would like one of the unique experiences in the Sacramento area, try the Slocum House, located in Fair Oaks, CA (about 15 minutes to the East of Sacramento). The chef there is Vincent Alexander, he trained at the California Culinary Academy and then apprenticed at Postrio and Fleur des Lys in San Francisco. His food is outstanding. Last time there I had a smoked "Belusa" Sturgeon that was incredible. Beautiful presentation of each dish. Also recommend the Lamb. The restaurant is set in a Registered National Historic Landmark, the former residence of the Slocum Family (one of the founding families of the area) very romantic, also features outside dining, full bar, great wine list. Outstanding service. JDB Sacramento, CA From [email removed] Fri Mar 29 08:34:33 EST 1996 Article: 23693 of rec.food.restaurants

Thanks in > advance for your help. One of the best Italian meals I have had in the United States was at Biba in Sacramento. Located at 2801 Capitol Avenue, it is a comfortable, very professionally run place. The bruschette and the roast pepper with mozzarella were exceptional, the wild mushroom ravioli were among the best I have eaten, the salads were lovely, and the wine list very good. Prices were high moderate--entrees in the high teens, pastas around $10; extremely reasonable given the quality. Make reservations......
