Thanks a lot. Try the Sloughhouse Inn, 11 miles out on the Jackson Highway (Rte 16).

Sacramento
I live in Sacramento have a few recommendations for you: Harlow's on J Street (good food, yuppie scene place that can get quite noisy) Biba's on Capitol (rustic Northern Italian, but you seem to have been there) Paragary's on 28th (similar to Chez Panisse Cafe food - brick pizza oven and a lot of grilling with Italian overtones) Il Fornaio (spelling?) also on Capitol but other end from Biba's, Northern Italian - good bread Marrakech (Morroccan) very good food - very similar to Mamounia in SF Chinois East & West - very good, David SooHoo is the chef Ricci's Restaurant Downtown - good, a little formal although comfortable Sterling Hotel (food used to be good, but I know that they now have a different chef) Frank Fat's - legislative hangout, but food is fairly good, famous for their banana cream pie and people watching P.S. Il Fornaio is the closest one to Biba's in terms of menu and ambience. Here's my select list of Sacramento restaurants, with some comments on the other suggestions: Wulff's, recommended by one poster, is, alas, no more. I live near Harlow's and wouldn't go into the place on a bet. Paragary's is very popular. I think it's only so so. Recommended: Morton's at 5th and L. Yes, the chain is here in Sacramento, and it is great. Scott's at Loehmann's Plaza at Fulton and Fair Oaks. Yes, as in Scott's in San Francisco. I have eaten here many times and never had less than a wonderful meal. The prices are reasonable and the food of excellent quality. Marrakech - previously mentioned; absolutely delicious Morrocan food. Casa Blanca: opened by former Marrakech chef, also absolutely delicious Morrocan food Fuji's: Best Japanese restaurant in town; excellent value. Sorn Daeng: Thai food, great food in a strip mall. Avoid: Fat City, California Fats, and, really, any place in Old Sacramento. Cheap and effective: Golden Wok, Chinese; Vallejo's, Mexican; New Paris Cafe, Vietnamese. Interesting cheap breakfast: 6th floor cafeteria at State Capitol; avoid the basement like the plague unless you like dorm food, the basement cafeteria is run by Saga Corp.

My current favorite for real Italian ( not Californicated) is Ristornate Bravo on Fair Oaks behind a Swanson's Cleaners. Not as many beautiful people here as Piatti down the street, but didja come here to watch or eat? Good luck- D.M.
