Roger,
Try Applewood in Guerneville. Haven't been there for a little while
but the times I have in the past it has been excellent. It's also an inn. Probably wise to make reservations. The location is on the east side of the river on the left just past the old miniature golf course.

For Euro cuisine with great views and atmosphere check out Rivers
End at the, duh, end of the Russian River, where it dumps into the ocean. The clam chowder is unique...

You didn't mention Occidental, but it's smack dab in the middle of the towns you did mention. Either Negri's or The Union Hotel is a "must" for me when I go up to Russian River. Heck, I've gone for a Sunday drive just to eat at one of those places. Each place has gotten raves from anybody who's gone with me. I've been going for decades and I've never been disappointed. And definitely not "fancy".

I was at Negri's a short time ago and I still found it to be grrrrreat. The only difference in the meals that I noticed, starting several years ago, is the apple fritters became part of the dessert menu instead part of the main meal. But no bigee, as the main meal is such a belly-buster that most people would just nibble on the fritters or take 'em home with the rest of meal they typically couldn't finish in one sitting.

Though, I agree with you about the Union Hotel, it has sorta lost its edge.

Good food; the occasional special lamb shank over risotto kicks
butt. On the pricey side; view of the main drag ain't so hot. I'd put the cuisine in the general realm of Willowside Cafe, although more Italianate...

: In Jenner, Timber Cove Lodge Restaurant.

Probably refers to Timber Cove Inn in Timber Cove, a twisty 14
miles north of Jenner and the Russian River. A really cool structure, but the immense Benny Bufano phallic totem imposed on the otherwise-gorgeous landscape doesn't do it for me...nor did the food, last time I was there, which admittedly was years ago...haven't had the urge to return. Ditto Salt Point Lodge. River's End easily blows 'em both into the Pacific, IMHO.
