Yum! One of my must stop sites if I'm anywhere near Watsonville or Santa Cruz. Once I drove to Watsonville from Gilroy just for taste. Great chicken, corn and potatoes. My mouth is watering..... Their main claim to fame is a very nice selection of custom-made salsas, ranging up to extremely hot (lots of habaneros). Their chicken is nicely roasted, although I don't recall that the side dishes were anything special. Definitely cheap, family-oriented ambience (at least in Watsonville). Overall, I'd go there any time. But when I get down as far as the Watsonville area, the lure of Central Texan BBQ is hard to ignore. Jon

There's flavorful salsas even for us wimps (the tomato-ginger, the dark sweetish one, the barbeque salas, and occasional fruit salsas), vegetables treated right, and those stringy fried onion-with-sesames get to me every time. Unless it happens to be a flavor combo that doesn't work for my tastebuds, the food never displeases. I don't happen to like most peppers, fleshy or kernel (so sue me) as ingredients--but what they do with spinach is nearly sacramental. It is to yum. I go there at offtimes, to escape the crowds and because that's when I'm hungry. The music is always lively, and you can never be certain what style you'll get any given day.
