It's not exactly what you are looking for, but perhaps close enough. Have you visited Izakaya on N. 1st in San Jose? If you find Izakaya suitable, you might also try Inakaya in Sunnyvale on El Camino (by the Good Guys). The menu is in Japanese only, so you would want to make sure at least one memeber in the group can read. -j
