There are two good places I've been to in Solvang. One is Polly's Pancake House-the Swedish pancakes are delicious--they cover the whole plate. I've driven from Santa Barbara (45 minutes) to eat there. Also the Danish Inn--the restaurant with a windmill on top (don't they all) has pretty good smorgasbord--and the waitress named Greta is an institution. Also a few miles away in Buellton, eat at the Hitching Post - the best barbecue, incredible desserts, and a lot of extras--usually $40 for two. The chef wears a bush hat and turns the meats on a contraption that looks like a medieval torture device--but his food is scrumptious--especially the pork loin and when they have it--ostrich--tastes like filet mignon without the fat and cholesterol.
