Also, Bully's is a steak place and it used to be quite good, however, I've been hearing less than sterling things about it since it's changed hands. If you want to limit yourself to "the village", I'd suggest: Trattoria Acqua (in the Coast Walk on Prospect), George's at the Cove/ George's Patio (also on Prospect). If you want a spare-no-expense romantic dinner, you might consider either The Sky Room at La Valencia or Top of the Cove. The Top of the Cove had been in the doldrums for the last few years, but has recently gotten a new chef and some outstanding reviews. Be forewarned that the wine list is absurdly expensive (e.g. $36 for Estancia Chardonnay). Mike

I second what Mike C says. Also would add the Panniken on Coast Walk overlooking the cove for a good breakfast & a great view

The last couple of times I was there I was underwhelmed by both the food and the service. They do have a nice view and one of the better wine lists in San Diego. As far as a "romantic" place in La Jolla, I think that The Sky Room at La Valencia is more romantic, has better service and about equal food to Elario's (i.e. sound, but nothing other-worldly). They'll even let you go out on the fire escape if you ask... For food, I'd still recommend George's at the Cove for more formal dining, and Trattoria Acqua or George's Patio for less formal dining over either Elario's or The Sky Room. Both the Marine Room and Top of the Cove have gotten new chefs in the last year and have gotten rave reviews (with some caveats). I haven't had the opportunity to try either though. Mike
I found a fairly new place called Grille At La Jolla. Great Seafood and the best veiw in the area. Address is 1250 Prospect, not for sure of the phone number. Enjoy Dan
