Steve,

Here are a few restaurants we dine at. Carmel has a lot of restaurants, but not to many good ones.

1) Montrio - 414 Calle Principal in Monterey,
Was vote the best new restaurant in the U.S
Great food and service, IF you go ask for Jaime's Station
if me is working. Great server

2) Thai Bistro - On Carmel Valley Rd. In Carmel Valley.
Ask for Chalie's station, he works weekends.

3) Flying Fish - Its in the Carmel Plaza in Carmel,
It was the best we ever had in Carmel.

4)Kincaid's Bistro - 217 Crossroads Carmel. Off Hwy 1
Robert Kincaid is one of the best chefs in the U.S.
          This is a great place

5) LA BOHEME - Dolores & 7th ave. in Carmel
A great restaurant. One thing on this one, they sever only
one dish each night. So you will have to call and find out
what they will be serving that night. They have their menu
set for the month. Check out there web site
          http://www.laboheme.com

Enjoy, this is a great place,

Go to Roy's at Pebble Beach - one of my absolute favorites and a view to die for.

Vacationed there last year, and the best dinner we had was in a little Thai reataurant right next to the Dolphin (I think) motel. Wonderful! Lex

Try Casanova's, 1 block off of Ocean Avenue. It's to die for and reservations are a must.

If you like seafood, I think some of the best can be found at a place called Flahertys - there are two of them, side by side right in Carmel. One is pretty informal - an oyster bar with fabulous oysters from different areas as well as a full menu, and the other restaurant is a bit more formal (altho not much is very formal up there) and reservations are recommended. I think they have wonderful food. Katherine Long Beach, Calif. ([email removed])

Steve,

My wife and I really enjoyed IL Fornio, the food was well prepared and the service was impeccable. Jack.

Two years ago my wife and I visited the Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur area and popped into a smallish restaurant The Grill on the main street in Carmel. Japanese chef/owner and influence. The duck ravioli with an orange beurre blanc sauce was to kill for as were the grilled filets of squid with a wasabi/rice wine vinaigrette. In fact on our last day before driving back to San Fran had to go back to Carmel to have a second helping.
