Mustard's has terrific food, waiters and waitresses, and a fun, enjoyable atmosphere. I went there for my birthday last year and had a blast! Flora :)

I love those places. With the kids you might try the California Cafe in Yountville. The general manager there *loves* kids. For take out-picnic stuff you can't beat the Oakville Grocery in Oakville (duh). It's kind of expensive, but so is everything in God's Country. Get out of the Valley on the Weekends and go to the Russian River valley or something. air ick # @ ##### -- | ) eric herbert # # /-- # / | _ ) [email removed] ##### + | == # | |/ ) -or- [email removed] # # + | # | |\ )---------------------------- # # + | ##### \__ | \_ ) "King Kong knew what He was doing, when he left the town in ruins- Let's get rid of NY" -Randoms
Takeout: Oakville Grocery is an upscale grocery on 29 at the Oakville crossing. The Acme Breads are wonderful and great for soaking up the after-effects of wine tasting. They will pack a picnic for you I believe, but call ahead. The grocery is next to Stars Cafe, which is done by Jeremiah Tower's crew. I had a good lunch there, and would like to go back to have dinner (after visiting Tra Vigne again). The Diner and Mustard's Grill should both be good for kids.
For a quiet night out, try TERRA in St. Helena. Food is wonderful.
My recommendation for the quiet night out for the parents: the Meadowood Resort in St. Helena. Very peaceful and romantic setting, with great food and excellent service. It's about a 20 minute drive from Napa on the Silverado Trail. A great road, also. terry morse

While it might not fit the original specifications for Napa restaurants, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jonesy's at the Napa airport. It used to have very good steaks, but I haven't been there for years. Is it still good?
I agree with the comments about Meadowood. Nice atmosphere, overlooking the golfcourse, beautiful. Food's good too. If the parents night out includes an INCREDIBLE experience with fine French dining, consider taking a visit to the other country club in Napa - Auberge de'Soleil. I'm not a French fanatic, but the place was quite impressive. I ate things that I normally wouldn't - and they were all wonderful. Price Fix menu, great wine list, great port list, mmmmmm. Super expensive though. It's off of Silverado too, up on the hill, overlooking the whole valley. But for just a quiet night out, Tra Vigne and Terra are my favorites. Vickie McCorkendale
Another vote for Mustard's. My wife and I have enjoyed going there and ordering nothing but appetizers! Nix on Auberge de Soleil, however. You pay dearly for a good view of Napa Valley. The food is OK but something of a disappointment after all the hype. The wine list was fine but *stupidly* overpriced, particularly for a Napa Valley establishment. If you want to go down the road apiece, a great family restaurant in Calistoga is Bosco's. Fun atmosphere and decent Italian food at reasonable prices. -Elliot
