Haven't been to the North Beach location, but we dine with some regularity at the Ninth Avenue branch. My understanding is the menus are the same. Everything we've ever had there has been at least good, with some dishes outstanding. Signature dishes include the excellent salmon rolls and the very tasty pepper-flecked lamb. I also quite like the chicken and shiitake dumplings. Fish accounts for most of the menu, and they treat it quite nicely. One weakness is the excessive reliance on mashed potatoes as accompaniment. Something more imaginative would be nice. The tapioca with mango puree is a lovely, light way to finish off a meal. Mark Alan Miller Steve F. wrote: >Any comments on (The) House in SF? Recommendations for (The) House in SF?
I tried the one on 9th Ave about a year ago. They had a very good seared Mahi Mahi. Though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't like sushi/sashimi. I'm actually planning to go back (maybe try the one in North Beach). So it will be interesting to see what they have now. -Sang Steve F. wrote: >Any comments on (The) House in SF? I agree with the people who have liked the House on Ninth. The food is very good. Creative and well executed. But I had one complaint the other writers didn't mention. Maybe they didn't notice that the seats are hard and uncomfortable. I haven't been back because of this. Steve F. wrote: >Any comments on (The) House in SF?
