Upscale Asian seafood house. Incredible room, yummy whole crabs and garlic noodles. Helene's Ravioli rocks. If red meat is on the agenda you might try Izzy's in the Marina district Also, try to do breakfast at Doidges...another great place. You will need to make reservations if you want to go on the weekend. Enjoy...SF is a great eating town!

Some of the best breakfasts I have enjoyed in San Francisco. With children probably your best bet would be Mel's Diner (yes made famous by TV). Also good for lunch and dinner. They have two locations in Frisco: 2165 Lombard St. 415-921-3039 (on the way to the Presidio) 3355 Geary Blvd. 415-387-2244 Mel's has great burgers, hash browns, egg dishes and malts. Don't forget to purchase a souvenirs shirt to remember your visit. The other location is normally for the adults, but they have a side room for families is a local hang out near the cable car turn around at Beach and Hyde St.'s. and just west of the Ghiradelli Square (don't forget to stop and get an ice cream Sundae in their ice cream parlor for afternoon break) Buena Vista Cafe is located at 2765 Hyde St. 415-474-5044 and they serve wonderful scrambled eggs, remus gin fizzes (the liquor type), pecan pie (yes for breakfast) and lots more. Will have to try Doiges, as it sound really great also. Good eating, Barbara Lull

There are so many different directions to go, so many different places to send you; could you narrow down for us your idea of "something incredible"? I, too, am a big fan of Doidge's for breakfast and, although it only has 11 tables, Monday shouldn't be a big problem for getting in (although it never hurts to have a reservation). Since you said "high-end restaurant" in your Subject Line, other favourites for the evening are Bistro Scala (in the Sir Francis Drake Hotel--reservations are essential), Cafe KATi (on Post St. in Pacific Heights), and Bizou (on 4th St. SOuth of MArket St.--capitalization intentional). Bistro Scala is a stunning room in which you can have hearty, refined Italian-style California cuisine. Cafe KATi serves a fun mix of "fusion" food with an eclectic wine list that doesn't require a trust fund. Bizou is a cozy French restaurant, whose chef (and owner) is considered a great innovator in San Francisco. I've been to all of these in jeans on some occasions and dress clothes on others; the reception has been the same. Hope this helps and enjoy your visit!
