I've lived in Noe Valley for about three years (not all of which I spent at school, so I did manage to get out to eat some. Rami's is O.K., but nothing special for the price The absolute *best* place in Noe Valley was the Gravity Spot, but they shut down last month. Swatdee (on 24th) has pretty good Thai--try the crispy tofu appetizer Ristorante Bacci (maybe Bacco?) is a relatively new Italian place with great food, good service, and a decent and decently priced wine list. Try their gnocchi. They also have an above-average selection of vegetarian options. Since Noe Valley is so close to the Mission, and S.F. is so small to begin with, I would certainly not limit myself to restaurants in this little area if I were you. I can list a good half dozen great places within a 20 minute walk from my apartment (23rd/Dolores) that don't quite qualify as being _in_ Noe Valley, but that are worth trying.

If demand is great, I will post these suggestions.
