I saw Allan recommended both Cafe Marcella and Pigalle, which are both good (for Los Gatos)... and I can also recommend Tapestry, which is down by the high school and the Ferrari dealership. They have a website: http://www.tapestrybistro.com/ or call them at 408-395-2808. Their website says that they serve until 10:00pm every day of the week. Take care, Mike Someone wrote: > I'm being treated to a nice dinner tonight, in Los Gatos and > would like some recommendations. nice dinner tonight in Los Gatos

Tapestry was booming at 9:15 when we arrived, and there were still diners eating when we were done and leaving about an hour later. Definitely a welcoming place for an after 9:00 pm dinner. Sob... they were out of the "Grocery Bag" of Springrolls, so we had the Foie Grass Saute w/ Balsamic Figs & Port instead. Figs? I didn't see any figs, I saw and ate what seemed to be salty cubes of ham or bacon. Tasty, but I think I would have preferred the Springrolls. My SO had Pork Loin with a pomegranite sause, and spinich and garlic mashed potatoes. He said the pork was "gamey, which was odd", but the taters were good which he feels is unusual for garlic mashed potatoes at an "upscale restaurant". I had Salmon with a balsamic vinegar sauce, and spinach. Both were very nice, but I missed having a starchy side dish (potatoes, rice), the course felt incomplete. <rant> Both dishes were served with "tower" plating, on large plates. Given that we were seated at a deuce (despite the restaurant only being 1/2 full and no more reservations expected after we arrived so there were plenty of larger tables available) it was a bit annoying being served on huge plates that made the table crowded, but then having tons of empty space *on the plates* because they plated the food into a tower. Make up your minds all you frufru chefs! If you want to make a tower out of the food, use a normal sized plate! </rant> He had a glass of chianti, I had a glass of BV Merlot, both were nice. He had a Lemon Curd cake with a huckleberry sauce, I had a Hazlenut creme carmel custard. He liked his cake but I found it very tart and not to my liking, but I liked my custard. He had a capaccino, I had a latte, the coffees were OK but nothing to write home about. The meal was $98 (after the waitress removed the springrolls we never received from the tab, grrr), $120 with tip. Their website menu is out of date. I'm going to email the webmaster and gripe. If they have a menu online they should update it when they change the menu in the restaurant, or make it more noticable that the menu is just a "representitive menu" and not meant to be the menu they are serving at the time. jc
