My favorite Thai restaurant in those cities is Siam Garden in Menlo Park. Good chicken w/green curry. Good pad thai. Good thai iced tea (I've been told. Don't drink it myself).

No idea what kind of facilities they have for holding a company dinner.

We went to Krung Thai a few weeks ago. I had heard so much about this place and the raves about it. Well, we were disappointed. Maybe we didn't order the right dishes. We ordered the fried pomfret with the sweet sauce. The pomfret was overcooked and tough. But it was nothing compared to the garlic pork we ordered. It was the tiniest dish, and the most overcooked pork that I ever had. It was like chewing shoe leather - I kid you not. Our jaws were tired just from chewing. The garlic pork had nothing with it - just pork. The best dish we had was chicken and vegetables and it was just OK. We were very disappointed. I've had much better Thai food elsewhere.

I had the same reaction and made the same post to ba.food about 8 months ago. Even used the phrase "maybe we didn't order the right dishes". I was especially annoyed that the waiter, when told we often get Thai food but had never been to Krung Thai and wanted to know what the specialty of the house was answered, "Get the #49. A lot of people like it." #49 is pad thai.

I've been back since and on the return visit one dish really stood out as delicious. But the rest was more or less ordinary.

I still prefer Siam Garden in Menlo Park and that Thai place whose name I forget near JJs in Santa Clara or San Jose by Stevens Creek. Or Sa Wooei in El Cerrito.

There is a wonderful place in downtown San Jose called House Of Siam. It's very nice, would be lovely for a business dinner, just let them know. I have only been there a few times but the food has been absolutely delicious. I'm Thai, my Chinese friends love it, my cousin (born, raised and still lives in Thailand) was here before and also loved this place.

Try Thai Basil in Sunnyvale. Small place, great food.

They opened their second restaurant in a space in the Town & Country Village shopping complex across from the Caltrain station. It's quite cunning, really. People show up at the usual spot, discover the usual huge line, and can choose to wait or go to the other Thai Basil just two blocks away.

Krung Thai in San Jose is excellent. Has a wide selection of food. It tends to be crowded so reservations are recommended. It's located at 640 S. Winchester Blvd at the corner of Moorpark. Right off of 280. Phone is 408-260-8224
