Judging from the sliced beef, Doug's is pretty mediocre. Try Bobby's Back Door in Richmond. Sliced beef as good or better than the late Flint's.

By E&J's I presume you mean Everett & Jones?

I'll second the recommendation for them, but the only time I tried them was at a Raiders game a couple months back, where they had a big BBQ stand set up outside the eastern gate of the Coliseum (next to the BART footbridge). I spent 10 minutes in line trying to decide between the brisket or the hot links -- by the time I got to the front of the queue I still couldn't decide, so I got one of each and trucked both of them up to our seats on Mount Davis. It was good to have friends along to help carry the beer.

It took me almost the entire first half to eat it all, and I don't think I took a dump for four or five days afterwards, but it was worth it.

Old South on E14th just north of 238 should also be a good choice. Haven't been there in many a month.....any recent experiences with Old South?

E+J on San Pablo near University. (Think it's Edwin & Jones but I can only remember the E+J because they also have a stand in the SJ Arena where the Sharks play and that's where I had their food last) Really good BBQ!
