In Mendocino, I like the Maccallum House Restaurant/Grey Whale Bar & Cafe on Albion, and the Moosse [sic] Cafe on Kasten.

I haven't noticed any moderate-priced lodging in Mendocino. Ft. Bragg, about 10 miles to the north, has several motels. SS Seafoam Lodge at Little River (5? miles south) is acceptable and less expensive than the tony B-n-B's in Mendocino proper.

In Gualala I like the Old Milano Hotel Restaurant, expensive but good. Don't know what it costs to stay there, but next time I'm planning to travel to the area, I will check it out, since I liked the Victorian decor in the dining rooms.

The Glove Box Guide: Mendocino Coast by Bob Lorentzen is a good place to start for the area from Gualala to Leggett (Bored Feet Publications, 1995).
