What are the best places to eat on California Avenue, just off El Camino in PA? What are your favorite dishes in the places you recommend? What places are wonderfully _cheap_? There are a lot of new places -- and quite a few old ones -- on this street that might bear some discussion. Tell us a bit about your favorites... A place I find interesting (tho it ain't gourmet cuisine, gang) is Shaikh's, the Indian place on the South side of the street. They offer an eternally unchanging menu of curries (chicken, beef, veggie) served over gloppy rice, paper plates, plastic forks, sodas out of the can. Add more cayenne if you want it hotter (it's in a shaker on the order counter). You're out of there in 15 minutes, if you want to hurry, for about 4 bucks and the food won't make you sick. Run by a couple of old Indian ladies.
