Great food near Carmel, CA?

My recommendations are Fresh Cream in Pacific Grove(?) (fabulous French food at high prices), or  Fandango ( Spanish food) also in Pacific Grove. There are many restaurants in Carmel, most of them serving Italian or Continental cuisine, but the two that I mentioned have been great in my experience.  I would strongly recommend a reservation at either of these places.  If you want other peoples opinions, I would suggest posting this on ba.food. Enjoy Jay

Fresh Cream in Monterey is wonderful.  For several years, it has gotten highest ratings from critics, the SF PBS survey, Zagat, etc.  We've tried many well-reviewed (by pros or friends)  places in the Carmel/Montery/Pacific Grove area, and agree.  Always perfect food. Restaurant is very pretty.  I'm always looking for a special event to celebrate there--even if it's just tha we've been able to take the time to spent a night in Carmel.
