If you are going sking in the Sierras or to Reno, or coming back, and you are hungry for good Cantonese food, try New Station on Broadway St. in Sacramento. It has relatively easy freeway access on US 50/80 at 16th St. exit. Authenic Cantonese, reasonable prices, generous portions. Utilitarian spartan decor. Efficient service. Parking lot. Its a nice rest stop between Bay Area and Sierras. (There are about 6 restaurants in the same area on Broadway if you want to check them out.) Good Chinese Food in Sacramento
I agree with this recommendation. Their specialty is seafood. My favorites are the seafood and vegetables Hong Kong style and the spicy salt baked oysters. Another good and reasonably priced restaurant is Shanghai Garden at H and Alhambra, across the corner from McKinley park. The exit from business 80 northbound is H street. I think it's D street southbound. Went by today. You couldn't get me in there if they were serving free food. A much better choice, if you had to be in that area and wanted Chinese food, would be Fortune House, also on Broadway and 10th (Riverside). Didn't go in? Couldn't they get you in there if they were serving free food? Why not? Did you try the food? The Fortune House is okay. The decor is much fancier than New Station. Its bigger and newer, but not necessarily better. I've eaten there and would go back. Dragon Haven is okay to and is in between Fortune House and New Station. One of the best indicators of a good Chinese restaurant is how many Chinese customers they have. New Station meets that criteria easily. But I'm still puzzled about your remarks about New Station. How can they be valid if you didn't go in, and if you didn't eat there? Or did you? Just curious because you certainly have a right to your own opinion. I would just like to know what it is based on.
