I was too selfish to do this earlier, but my favorite local restaurant is looking for more business (like I thought they didn't want more money :-), so I might as well 'fess up. Bayside Grill, 1473 Beach Park Rd, Foster City. Southwestern and homestyle cooking. $10-20. Casual. Tues-Sun, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch. Quality food without pretensions (try to find THAT in Palo Alto :-). I go here more than any other place, at least once a week. I've tried almost everything. The appetizers are very good (Taos polenta with red and green chile sauces and andouille sausage). I haven't been too impressed by the entrees on the menu, but the specials are worthy of the name (Cajun fettucine, blackened red snapper, BBQ platter, Tampico steak, and even the meatloaf). Love the cinnamon orange spice iced tea (presweetened). The desserts are good, although I usually don't have room. Dinners come with reasonable bread and good soup (though I might prefer the soup served a bit warmer). Business is brisk during lunch hour and Fri/Sat dinner, but there's rarely a wait. The place is less than half full on weeknights. Bummer that they aren't open Mondays, which is when I usually need them the most. Take 92 to Foster City Blvd south. Take a left on Edgewater/Beach Park. Follow Beach Park as it curves south along the Bay. Bayside Grill is buried in a little strip mall on your right. Tell 'em the computer guy sent you. Adam
