: Have to add a comment to Will's comments on the Breakers. I've always : enjoyed very good food there, but lately have been disappointed in : overall quality. They do however have a killer house salad dressing : which is almost worth the trip. My RECENT experience has been that : you're better sticking with the specials (see blackboard). They just : don't seem to be paying as much attention to the standard menu stuff.

Most eateries, of course, have fluctuations in quality and
consistency. Like most "standard menus" there are items I routinely avoid at Breakers because they've never worked for me, but others seem to enjoy them. Because I work in BB I mostly go to Breakers at lunch. The soups (other than the clam chowder) range from good to excellent. A recent treat was a bowl of smoked salmon bisque, with big chunks of lobster, plus bread, for under $5. One of the better deals on the menu (and on the coast) is the "beachcomber," where a large bowl of soup accompanies a huge house salad with the dressing Judy mentioned (which they also sell by the bottle), plus bread. This combo goes for around $8. The specials board is also a good place from which to order, although there is an occasional misfire. Sally's Key Lime Pie is excellent, if you have any room at that point!

Good clam chowder is hard to find, in my experience, but there are
a couple of good ones near BB. Rivers End in Jenner usually re-opens on Valentines Day. The chowder created by the talented chef, Wolfgang Gramatszki, is quite unique - very herby, and wonderful. Vaguely similar and also good is the chowder at the Blue Heron at Duncans Mills, a few miles inland from Jenner.
