Original Joe's on First and San Carlos.
Il Fornaio on Market and San Carlos.
These are both within walking distance of the Convention Center and the Fairmont Hotel.Yn erthygl , sgrifenws xrunner : >Going to be there 2 days for usual meetings. Stay away from The Grill, Scott's, and Paolo's unless your primary goal is to spend money. Il Fornaio is too spotty to call, sometimes good, sometimes bad.... service seems to be a problem there. Stump's is pricey, but probably a good bet, WAVES, as someone mentioned, is <great>, good food (primarily a grill/bbq/smokehouse) at a fair price in a historical building. Not sure about the food at the Fuel, but there's good music, liquor and people. Pizz'a Chicago is about four blocks away for a decent pizza, and sidewalk tables (at least there <was>). For late night, Original Joe's is probably your best bet. If you have a ride, there <are> other places to eat in the area, Los Gatos, Cupertino, Mountain View and Santa Clara all have some interesting informal dining spots.
The White Lotus is interesting...Upscale Vietnamese Vegetarian. On Market Street, just north of "downtown" hotel district. Someone wrote: >Going to be there 2 days for usual meetings. Just off the top of my head, these are the one's I've been to. You can look these up in Yahoo! Yellow Pages. Paolo's -- upscale local Cal-Italian Il Fornaio -- chain upscale Italian Original Joe's -- timewarp to the 50's Italian Eulipia -- used to be cal cuisine, probably something different now Agenda -- upscale yup cuisine Emile's -- upscale Swiss-French (I actually haven't been here yet) Spiedo -- upscale yup cuisine A.P. Stumps -- upscale cuisine Blakes -- upscale steak house The Tied House -- brew pub. mediocre beer and food Gordon Biersch -- brew pub. better beer and food Stratta -- neighborly Cal-Italian Bella Mia -- upscale Cal-Italian Shark and Rose -- Local pub.

Plus Sunday nights they have all-you-can-eat spareribs (with beans and a side) for $13 or somesuch. >If you have a ride, there <are> other places to eat in the area, Los >Gatos, Cupertino, Mountain View and Santa Clara all have some >interesting informal dining spots. For BBQ, I recommend Sam's on Bascom (south of Valley Med), especially for baby backs (closed Sundays, though). Also Austin's in Mountain View.
