We headed up to Ft. Bragg this weekend.
We took Hwy 101 north to Hway 20 west (Willits) on the way up.

Dinner Saturday at the Wharf (in the harbor).
Decent food, *great* view.
Broiled rock fish, great; poached salmon lacked taste; fish and chips for The Teenager (the fish lacked flavor). The complimentary crudites (carrots, radishes, green onions, ranch dip) were very good. The converted rice served with the fish was bad. No veggies were served with entrees.

The locals attending the quilt show also recommended: the restaurant in the Old Coast Hotel, The Restaurant (on Main), Mendo Bistro, and North Coast Brewing Company. Breakfast Sunday at Home Style Cafe. Great place.

Before we left, we stopped in the harbor and bought a fresh salmon from a boat. $3/lb, cleaned but with head and tail on. When we got home, I fileted it and cut it into large pieces. The grill will be hot tonight (mesquite charcoal, BTW).

On the way home, we took Hwy 1 south to Albion and Hway 128 east to Cloverdale. Since we started later than we expected, we had lunch in Mendicino. It's not apparent that there's much
*good* food in Mendicino itself.
