Hi, Mike, I've been to Chez TJ a few times now and still have mixed emotions. Clearly, it was good enough for us to return, but I have a complaint or two: They have two dinner seatings, and they do *not* appreciate lingerers. I wouldn't say we were shoved out, but they didn't encourage us to stay. By the way, we are not slow eaters. For a special dinner, I might choose the later seating for that reason. Also, on one occasion we found the waiter to be more than a little stuffy. On the other two occasions I have no serious complaints, but I am not full of enthusiasm (for the service) either. The waiters at Chez TJ seem to confuse good service with a certain snobbish air. The food was extraordinary twice and just so-so on the last occasion. Prices are high, but then aren't all prices high now? To sum up -- go, by all means for the food, but don't expect really great service. Have fun whatever you do! Chez TJ
My wife and I recently tried Chez TJ. Having never been there, we opted for the top dinner option with wine (a glass per course). We were both pretty disappointed in both the food and wine. I will say that I had the best bowl of split pea soup I've ever had, but at $250 for the evening, I didn't leave feeling we'd gotten our money's worth. The atmosphere was a bit more rushed than it should have been, I didn't realize that there are 2 seatings, but that explains it. The food was tasty but no better than could be had for much less elsewhere. My wife is much more knowledgeable about wine than I am and she felt the wine was marginal at best, and the glasses were never filled more than 1/3 of the way. That is with the exception of the last wine served which my wife said was a $12 bottle at Beverages and More. Overall I'd say it was a somewhat enjoyable experience for us, but one that we've agreed not to repeat.
