. . . is at 878 Jefferson Street in Redwood City (Telephone: 367-6547).

It's a very attractive place of what we recognize as "typical" Japanese architecture/décor all done in knotty pine. The hard surfaces, however, make for a very noisy place that filled to capacity during our visit. One enters by crossing a small arch bridge over a bit of water with a wooden mallard afloat in it.

There's a small counter with two sushi chefs, a tatami room with shojii doors, and many tables. The toilet was clean and properly equipped with hot water. The service was competent but unremarkable.

The food, however, left so much to be desired that we'll not return. Further, the prices made the value less than good.

We had a "Crazy" sushi thingy that's the "Chef's Special". Edible.

The dressing on the tiny salad typical of Japanese restaurants was outstanding! Flavor after flavor hid within it.

The miso was tasteless.

The sukiyaki was bland and did not have all the ingredients one expects, most noticeably lacking were bamboo shoots and chrysanthemum leaves. No egg.

The barbecued teriyaki chicken was strips of barbecued chicken with bottled teriyaki sauce sprinkled over them.

The clientèle was exclusively non-Asian and most of them were abominably dressed. I mean T-shirts, gymnasium clothing, shorts, shirts with pictures and writing all over them and stuff like that there.

Bonsai provides Koreanized Japanese food. To me, they are not bad and they are far better than Okayama but if you like more authentic(well, whatever it means...) Japanese food, that is not the place to go.
