Denise: Yes, I too used to like Tony and Alba's a few years back, after reading all of the gushing articles of praise for them. But I also have become disenchanted with their pizza recently. It's not bad; just not all that good anymore. Franky, Johnny and Luigi's Too in Mountain View used to be my favorite in the South Bay; but the last time I went there a couple of months back, the pizza was merely good, not excellent. My current favorite, and a real find (besides being a hole in the wall) is Mia Vicino (I think that's the name of it) on Benton in downtown San Jose. Their specialty is authentic Italian cuisine, but they make some of the best and most unusual pizzas, such as with smoked duck as a topping. Their pizza is phenomenal, as is the rest of their food. They receive high marks in the Murky News every year. But I would avoid Pizza Chicago for the reasons already mentioned. Let me know if you need more suggestions for pizza (or other food) Denise. You'll never find it in San Jose. Il Mio Vicino is in Santa Clara on the corner of Benton and Monroe.
