My wife and I had weekend brunch there about a month ago. They are good with pancakes/sausage/omelettes: all pretty heavy food. If you are looking for a light brunch, try elsewhere. What we had (mine was a Southwestern omelette) was very good. Stan Cario L. wrote: > > Has anybody tried the Autumn Moon Cafe in Oakland. Any opinions one way > or the other. > > -Cario

Autumn Moon Cafe???????
Just returned from lunch at Autumn Moon. I had a cup of black bean soup (special today) and my friend a bowl of matzo ball soup. We shared a Parisian falafel sandwich. The black bean soup was delish -- served with a little sour cream and a dollop of salsa, which added a nice punch. Not overly thick, but full-flavored and substantial. All-veggie stock. The matzo ball soup is good, but not as good as mine :-). Actually, the m-balls were fine, but the broth could be a little more robust. Nice bit of fresh ground pepper does give it a little spunk. The falafel was tasty, served in pita, along with a little hummos, meltingly-cooked eggplant, and some pickled cabbage. A great combo. It's served with a little cole slaw, also tasty. We shared the rhubarb-raspberry crisp for dessert, which actually turned out to be peach-raspberry, but still good. Lots of buttery, sweet crisp-topping. I suppose the peaches must have been frozen, so were good but not like summer. It was served warm, with a little scoop of excellent vanilla ice cream. All in all a tasty meal, and very friendly and attentive service. Came to about $15pp with tax and tip (that was sharing the sandwich and dessert, and we each had an ice tea). I've had better luck there at lunch and dinner than breakfast, where the food hasn't always lived up to expectations. Still, they are MOBBED for weekend breakfasts, so others seem to be pleased. -------------------- Stan C. wrote: >My wife and I had weekend brunch there about a month ago.
