The following is from a friend of mine who doesn't have notes access but does have an e-mail address, so if you have questions, send them to him directly, don't post here! :-) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 16 Oct 91 18:09:00 +1700 SENT 10-16-91 FROM OHARE_KEVIN @SUPPORT.TANDEM.COM (KEVIN O'HARE) I'm attaching my notes on 2030 and the menu. Keep in mind that the entree includes soup and salad. Twice the soup was minestrone, and the last time was a tomato rice curry soup that was great! ------------ REPLY ATTACHMENT -------- I first tasted Penne' Pasta from restaurant 2030 back in May 1991 at the Children's Health Council Wine Tasting. The first taste made me stop in my tracks because it tasted so much like the pasta sauces my grandmother Sophie made when she was alive. As luck would have it, Carol and I ended up at 2030 for dinner that very evening. The chef and owner (Jaimie Carpenter) was in disbelief that we had come. (I made a big fuss about the sauce at the wine tasting so he remembered us) We've only managed to go back twice, once for Father's day and for our Anniversary. I took my Dad because I wanted to see if he too thought the Penne' Pasta tasted like his mother's pastas. He admitted they did, but hedged a bit on whether or not it was any better than hers. So far I've had the ravioli, a steak special and the prawns and proscuitto in linguini. The almond brittle dessert is to die for, it also has a chocolate sauce on it although it's not mentioned. Wine prices are "normal" for a restaurant, which means a bit more than most of us really want to spend but do so anyway. Twice I've brought a bottle of my own (both older vintages) and have not been charged a corkage fee. We've also bought wine from the menu twice. (besides, I sent a glass of the wine I brought in to Jaimie) Now for the menu... + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + 2030 2030 Broadway Redwood City, CA 94063 415-367-9527 Appetizers quickly fried calamari with garlic and lemon juice $5.95 steamed mussels with garlic and herbs $6.95 duck and plum pate with garlic croutons $5.95 linguine carbonara $6.95 Entrees (includes soup and salad) cheeze ravioli with 2030 mushroom red sauce $12.95 penne' pasta with sundried tomatoes, mushrooms and goat cheeze $12.95 prawn brochette woven with pancetta, basil and red onion $15.95 filet mignon with black beans and chipotle chili butter $17.95 veal and prawns with thyme shallot cream $15.95 lamb loin chops marinated with garlic and herbs $16.95 linguine with chicken, artichokes, mushroom and garlic in extra virgin olive oil $12.95 new york steak with sundried tomato gorganzola butter $17.95 tortellini with chicken, sage and garlic cream $12.95 prawns with proscuitto, spinch and mushrooms tossed in linguine $14.95 veal piccata with lemon and non pareill capers $14.95 chicken breast paillard with rosemary, garlic, lemon and extra virgin olive oil $12.95 desserts bread pudding with whiskey sauce $3.95 white chocolate cheesecake with warm chocolate sauce $4.25 almond brittle with jamocha almond fudge ice cream $4.50 world famous espresso martini $3.95 hazelnut brownies with carmel sauce and french vanilla ice cream $4.50 wine list champagne veuve clicquot $50 iron horse $35 domaine chandon $24 chardonnay belvedere $11 ivan tamas $15 raymond $21 chateau montelena $35 edna valley $27 sonona-cutrer $24 acacia $$28 savignon blanc quivira $18 groth $16 frog's leap $18 gewurztraminer obester $15 cabernet sauvignon ivan tamas $16 hawk crest $15 jordan $42 hess collection $27 chateau montelena $40 brunello di montellcino cantina nardi $38 zinfandel ridge $16 caymus $19 lytton springs $24 merlot franciscan $25 troubadour $14 pine ridge $30 pinot noir la crema $22 chalone $38 endings charbay $4 port $4
