For a great meal in Brussels that's a little off the beaten path, I'd highly recommend De Ultieme Hallucinatie, at 316 Koningsstraat (a/k/a Rue Royale; all streets are named in both Flemish and French). It's a warm, stylish room with an outdoor terrace frequented by the city's Flemish-speaking population (it helps to know a few words of Flemish/Dutch, but you should be able to get by in English). Beautiful Art Nouveau and other eclectic decor. They serve up a great kettle of moules au vin blanc, with frites of course; have a De Koninck or a Hoegaarden White beer. Have fun out there.
