Parker's Barbecue in Wilson NC is the best I've tried so far, in 1 year of seeking (newcomer to this part of the country). Best time to try any barbecue place around here is lunch, not dinner.

BBQ in VA and NC ???
Pierce's BBQ (just off I-64 at Toano exit) is excellent. It's been featured in Jane and Michael Stern's book, Road Food.
