The original Sonny Bryan's is on Inwood Drive, not Mockingbird. The sauce is not the same as when the late Mr. Bryan was running the show (the original was spicy, dispensed in shaker bottles similar to tabasco sauce bottles, and only a few drops were needed- strangely enough, I used to have a cat who LOVED that sauce), but is still quite good. Anyone who rates barbeque places on the quality of their sauce is highly suspect, IMO. Slaw and beans are not as good as they used to be, but the onion rings are still excellent. I've gone to Sonny Bryans every time I've visited Dallas since I moved away in '81 (still have one serving in the fridge from last time). There is also a good place on Greenville Ave, just north of Park Lane- east side of the street, but I can't remember the name. The Dicky's on Central Expressway (at Knox/Henderson, I think?) can be very good, but remember- barbeque, like any good food, is a hand-made product- it will vary from day to day. Sonny Bryans, while usually not as good as it was when Sonny was in charge, is still about as good on an off day as most other places on their good days. In my experience, only once has Dicky's approached Sonny Bryan's quality .

Angelo's is the place to go in Fort Worth- don't even think of trying anyplace else 'till you've gone there. It's somewhere on White Settlement Road.
