            Judi,

As someone that eats out EVERY night I've got a pretty good list

The best food I have every had in my life has come from this
kitchen.

Oaxaca at Pinnacle Peak rd and Pima rd in Scottsdale has good southwest food and nice night views of the city from their outside patio.

Two great Phoenix restaurants--Dos Molinos (real New Mexican food and very reasonably priced--great outdoor patio) and Roxsands(fabulous desserts--get the sampler). It's also fun to visit Borders Bookstore in the Biltmore Mall after dinner a Roxsands--it's a "happening".

Enjoy!

Sorry, Rick, but after a law suit, "Lone Star" has been forced to change it's name to Tex-Az Steaks. The orginal name referred to the single star in the Texas flag and the new name refers to the single stars in both flags. I can say from personal experience that the food is great and you won't find a driendlier group of Texas expatriates anywhere in the Valley.

Karen,

If you're looking for a splurge, I'd recommend Christopher's (across the street from the Biltmore Hotel) -- I think there's also a more casual (i.e. less expensive) cafe there as well. Great wine list, too! And I also loved RoxSand's...when I was in Phoenix a few years ago, RoxSand Scocos also had a less formal restaurant called Paniolo (sp?) which I also enjoyed. Happy eating!

You're absolutely right. It's the second best chicken fried steak in Phoenix(behind Mrs. Whites). But it's not the Lone Star Steakhouse anymore. They had to change their name because of the chain moving into Phoenix. It's now the TEXAZ steakhouse i think, but everything else is the same. It's on 16th Street and Glendale. It's a funky place to just go and read the walls.
