Los Dos Molinos. Great Authentic Sonoran Mexican food at decent prices. It's not fancy, but then real home-cooked Mexican food doesn't have to be to be delicious. There are two locations: One in South Phoenix and one in Mesa. For Cuban, there's Havana Cafe. I've heard it's a pretty good restaurant.

My wife and I are going to Phoenix late this month to visit our son and his family. We'd like to take them out to a Mexican, Latin or South American or even Cuban restaurant. We are interested in more authentic cuisine regardless of atmosphere or price. I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone may have.

Highly recommended, but be advised that most of their food is very hot (spicy). It's more in line with the New Mexican variety of Mexican food. I love it but can not recommend it, if you do not care for hot food. Be also advised that they do NOT have a non-smoking section (at least in Mesa, the only one I've been to). Would not consider the place smokey though. I eat there often and am not a smoker.

Haven't been to Phoenix since '82 , but I understand Rosita's Place (near the Airport) is still serving authentic Mexican food. It was a serious dive when I lived there, but great eating.

If you have the time, why not drive down to Mexico ?? Not too far, and real authentic cuisine ...
