Try Filiberto's on Main between Alma School and Dobson Road. It's mainly takeout (although they do have a couple of tables outside), but it's SOOOO good! (Cheap, too!). I love their machaca burritos (I think they're approximately $2.40--shredded beef, bell peppers, scrambled eggs, onions, etc.) and the rolled tacos with guacamole & cheese ($1.90). They've got some unusual burritos, including fish (a couple of fried fish filets in a tortilla) and chile rellenos (yup, they stuff a couple of chile rellenos in a tortilla). One of their burritos is way more than one person needs for a meal. I've had the nachos there, too, and they probably weigh about 2 pounds or more. Anyway, there's no atmosphere, but you get great food at very little cost. One of my other favorites is Rositas at the southwest corner of Guadalupe and Dobson roads. They've got great margaritas, and the food is good, and not expensive. If you want chain types, there's Macayo's at the northwest corner of Dobson & Baseline (not my favorite, but a very popular place) and Garcia's on Alma School between Elliot and Warner (it's actually in Chandler, but only about a mile south of the Mesa border; good food for a chain).
