Every time I would drive home from school in Flagstaff I'd pass by and the place is ALWAYS packed with cars. Doesn't matter what time of day; it's full. They're locally famous for their homemade pies. This might be off the topic, but my neighbors are good friends with the owners and they had Rock Springs cater their wedding. Superb barbeque! Also, the two families are opening(don't know when) a restaurant across the street from America West Arena in downtown Phoenix called Bubba's Bistro. Looking forward to it. BTW, Rock Springs cafe is located about 40 minutes north of Phoenix on I-17 at the Rock Springs exit. ----Renee

YES!! The Rock Springs Cafe is still there. Myself and some friends go up there once every other month for the wonderful barbeque and the pies. I would say that the food is no longer plain, but is quite good. As a matter of fact one of my favorite meals I have every eaten consisted of their bbq, not quite cowboy beans and one of Pennys' Pies. I don't recall ever seeing the hotel you mentioned, but the cafe, store and bar all still exisist. The cafe has expanded so that might be where the barber shop once was.
For the person that wanted to know, the Cafe is located in Rock Springs, Az. Just 30 minutes north of Phoenix on I-17 at Exit 242.
For local Mexican Food, I would recommend La Cucaracha at 998 E. Indian School.
For a bit better Mexican food in a different kind of neighborhood, I would recommend Los Dos Molinos at 8646 S. Central. The food there is HOT, I mean super-fire hot.
