Three women model dresses in this 1919 print, and its caption singles out a "frock of Du-Bel," a label the record does not explain further. The photograph was made by Underwood & Underwood, a New York firm known for mass-produced photographs, and it was registered with the U.S. Copyright Office as a photoprint. By 1919, fashion was moving away from the heavy, restrictive styles of the prewar years toward looser, simpler silhouettes, so pictures like this one show how commercial photography presented new clothing to the public.
