The only identifying detail in the record is the name Fitziu, which the Library of Congress marks as unverified, so the sitter's identity should be treated as a working guess. The name most likely refers to the American soprano Anna Fitziu, who sang with the Metropolitan and Chicago opera companies in the early twentieth century. The picture is a glass negative from the George Grantham Bain Collection, the files of the Bain News Service, a New York photo agency that documented public figures and performers in roughly the 1900s through the 1910s.
